Overview

Skill Set 2 includes the delivery of 3 units of study including:

CPPBDN4106 Investigate materials for construction of Class 1 and Class 10 buildings

CPCSUS4002 Use building science principles to construct energy efficient buildings

CPCSUS5003 Manage energy efficient building methods and strategies

Explore the world of sustainable construction in Sustainable construction: methods and materials. This skill set is designed to help you understand and implement sustainability practices during the construction process, covering essential topics like material selection, building science, and energy-efficient building methods.

Assessment Information

Assessment 1

Research Report that documents findings related to materials suitable for structural elements, building envelope and coatings and finishes

Assessment 2

Research Reports that document information on building science principles for energy-efficient materials and products used in the building envelope, and energy-efficient design and construction methods for two projects:

Albion Abode Project (Residential)
RMIT Building 70 Project (Commercial)

Assessment 3

Energy Efficient Building Reports that manage energy-efficient building methods and strategies for two projects:

Hanover House Project (Residential)
RMIT Building 70 Project (Commercial)

Assessment 4

Knowledge Questions designed to assess knowledge of building science principles for creating energy-efficient buildings, materials, and overseeing methods and strategies for energy efficiency in construction.

Timeline

Skill set 2 starts on Tuesday July 23 and will run for 8 weeks.

Weeks 1, 3, 5 & 7: Face-to-face workshops and site visits on Saturdays on the city campus, + some online, self-paced learning and assessment.

Weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8: 3-hour evening online class each Tuesday + some online, self-paced learning and assessment.
